Kehlani is a mom!
The singer, who had been outspoken previously about her wish to become a mother, just got her wish over the weekend, as she revealed on a recent Instagram post. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl who she named Adeya in a natural birth at her own home.
In her post, she revealed that she’d given birth to Adeya in her bathroom at home, adding that she is thankful and in love “beyond comparison.”
“Refraining from posting to be family and rest, we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who sent well wishes, love, and support in all forms while waiting & working to bring Adeya earthside,” she wrote. The 23-year-old singer and songwriter apparently delivered her daughter in an “unmedicated homebirth,” saying that “was the absolute hardest yet most powerful thing i’ve ever done.”

Throughout her pregnancy, she kept her fans updated on the process, both the good and the bad. At one point, she admitted that she suffered from prenatal depression, and felt anxiety, feelings of isolation, and suffered from insomnia and lack of appetite.
What’s more, Khelani, who identified as queer and pansexual, explained to Nylon that she received a lot of negative reaction from people due to her pregnancy. She said she was accused of “using queerness to promote her career, then went and betrayed us with a man,” while some said, “her baby father is just a sperm donor.”
But she was surrounded by loved ones through the whole process, people who actually threw her two baby showers. And of course, she had her partner, Javie Young-White, by her side, who shared more details about the birth on her own Instagram account, saying that the singer gave birth “standing up, right into my arms.”
“It’s a blessing to have purpose within such a healthy, willful family,” Javie wrote. “We’ll be spending the next few weeks resting & falling deeper in love with each other.”
Congratulations to the happy new family!
